Friday May 4th, 2012. Discussion and dialog with Gerry Starnes, M.Ed. shamanic practitioner, teacher, author and presenter.

Part One: Saturday, Jan 28 and Sunday, January 29, 2012 - Part Two: Saturday, Feb 4 and Sunday, February 5, 2012. This hands-on, experiential workshop series is specifically designed to enhance the practice of those currently in the healing profession, including body workers, nurses, medical practitioners, and others trained in physical healing practices.
Gerry Starnes, an Austin Texas area shamanic practitioner and teacher, addresses the internal dialog - the incessant internal chatter that most people experience. By halting the internal dialog long enough, one can "stop the world" and come fully into the present moment to access wisdom and power.

Saturday September 24th. Many traditions tell us that "life is a dream" and that we are the dreamers. Is your dream less than you desire it to be? Do you sometimes experience regret, confusion or dissatisfaction in your life? Or do you simply know that the dream of your life has more potential than what you are experiencing, but you are unsure about how to make manifest your fullest expression?
"One Question people often ask is about drums. Whey drums are used and also rattles and hit sticks? It's to create a rhythm which is between about 140-210 beats per minute and it varies depending on the journey itself. But the reason for that is it's been shown that rhythm..."
In this video he expands on the Shamanic Journey discussion, describing the traditional three worlds: Lower World, Upper World, and Middle World. Each has its own characteristics and application in the journey practice.

Shamans travel regularly into "non-ordinary reality" for wisdom, healing and in the service of others in their clans and communities. Using their experience and knowledge about journeying, and with the guidance and assistance of their Power Animals and helping spirits, they come to know the locations, contours and landscapes of the spirit world that is so central to their lives and work.
Gerry Starnes, "It's a good question. And in order to answer that question we have to look at what Shamanism is about. Shamanism or Shaman, by the way, is a word that comes from Tungus language of Siberia. The word Shaman is not really universally used. Each tribe may have it's own name based on it's language.
"But, universally, primary level cultures and tribes have someone in their community whose job it is to help keep the spirit of the community and people of the community in balance.....
"The shamanic journey is a fundamental shamanic practice that allows people to leave their ordinary reality context and have a structured way to enter into what we think of as the Spirit World or a separate reality system, which is by the way at least as real as the one we are encountering right now. It's not 'made up,' it's not 'imaginary.' One of the things that we learn about with experience and over time is how real it really is."
Gerry Starnes, "Shamanic healing is an important application of a number of shamanic practices that incorporates everything the practitioner knows to that point and can build upon in terms of their own experience and their understanding of how spirit works.
"What is most important about Shamanic healing is that it really is not that the practitioner is doing the work - in fact the job of the practitioner is mostly to.....
Gerry Starnes shares his new video - Power Animals. Gerry Starnes, an Austin Texas area shamanic practitioner and teacher, presents fundamental concepts of the shamanic journey practice. The journey is a meditative process to the rhythm of drums, rattles, or other percussive instruments. It is an ancient and powerful way for people to connect with Spirit.

The Winter Solstice marks the darkest time of the year, the longest night and shortest day. It is the time when the cold grip of Winter is broken and the new year dawns - a time of rebirth and new beginnings. As such, it has held a special significance since before recorded history.
Come join us for this special journey circle! Bring a candle if you like, or something symbolic of the time for you to place on the altar. Consider also your intention or vision for the coming year, which you may share or that might be the focus of your journey.

December 11, 2010 Contemporary Shamanism Shamanism as a Spiritual Practice in Everyday Life A Free Presentation and Dialog by Gerry Starnes, M.Ed.
Shamanism is not a religion, nor is it a specific set of practices. It is a way of being in the world based on tens of thousands of years of human experience. All healing has its roots in shamanic practice, as does all spirituality and religion have its roots in the shamanic experience.
The Ancestor Journey™ workshop allows individuals to trace back through their Spiritual history and draw upon ages of accumulated experience and wisdom to address current needs, helping to heal the connection with Spirit.
The Power Animals Workshop explores communication with Spirit through the shamanic journey. It focuses on the shamanic tradition of communication with Spirit through the medium of spiritual representatives, such as animals and spirit guides.
Participants have the opportunity to identify and encounter their Power Animals and to begin or continue the deep and rich relationship this leads to. The goal is to initiate or improve integration between your ordinary life and awareness of spiritual guidance.
