As a child, Don Miguel Ruiz, Jr., listened to the stories of his father, who passed on the ancient beliefs of his family through tales his young son could understand. As Miguel Jr. grew older he learned to listen to more than just the words of the story, but to search beyond the superstition to find truth and meaning. He was just 14 when he became an apprentice to his father and grandmother, translating her workshops and lessons from Spanish to English. Finding the right words for in both languages to explain faith and its power gave Miguel Jr. a significant understanding of his family’s traditions.
After 10 years as an apprentice, Miguel Jr. took a step back from family’s teachings and went out to discover his own path. He explored his creative side through jobs in the film and design industry, and then turned towards his more practical side through more professional pursuits. As he faced each new challenge, he pulled from his teachings to guide him on his journey. Along the way, he met his wife and started his own family. With each experience came new understanding of the lessons his father and grandmother has passed on to him.
As Miguel Jr. found peace in his own life, he realized that he was ready to share the wisdom of his family’s traditions. Combining the tools of his beliefs with the knowledge gained from his own personal journey, he now helps others realize their own path to personal freedom. He regularly teaches workshops and lectures in both English and Spanish. He also leads power journeys to the pyramids of Teotihuacan and constantly looks for new ways to pass on his teachings to others.
