8 Monkey/Thread Day Is the Mayan calendar day of initiation of new calendar keepers.
Carlos Cedillo, who will lead the ceremony, has learned from the Grand Elder of the living Maya, Don Alejandro Oxlaj, and Mayan calendar researcher and author Dr. Carl Johann Calleman. Fellow calendar keeper, Craig Tiras will assist.
Anyone with a genuine interest in the mystery of Time is encouraged to attend. 8 Monkey is just the beginning of 260 days of ceremonial training.
Participants are encouraged to bring natural offerings for the fire, acoustic instruments, drums rattles, flutes, etc. Crystals, incense, copal, flower petals. Please RSVP and let us know what you intend to bring.
This a real traditional Mayan ceremony; all are welcome to attend. After the presentation of the 20-day cycle, we will dance counter-clockwise around the fire, and all will embrace all. This is always a joyful experience even for skeptics and first-timers.
