Storytelling is what we do naturally. It’s what our minds do constantly. Your experiences are your stories. Our culture and way of life are a manifestation of centuries of stories. Telling your stories and being sincerely and respectfully heard is a liberating experience; and the simple act of listening to people’s stories, as a dedicated, empathic listener, is an act of personal empowerment.
Nowadays people don’t have time to listen to each other’s stories. We are a society in a hurry, not realizing the healing power of storytelling—the secret of earlier societies.
Telling your stories in our sacred circle is about speaking up, speaking out, being heard, acknowledging ‘what is’ in your life, and letting go. Stories build trust and connect each of us to what we all have in common in this collective experience that we call life. Storytelling is one of the most authentic paths to personal transformation.
About your facilitator
Dr. Zeal Okogeri is a healer and author of two books: “The Relentless Generosities of Spirit,” and “Journey to Freedom.” A master storyteller, speaker and counselor, he emerged from a long lineage of African indigenous healers and storytellers. A former lecturer at the University of Hawaii, he travels the world, sharing wisdom stories and teaching the Light and Sound Current meditation.
