Tuesday December 21, 2010
The Winter Solstice marks the darkest time of the year, the longest night and shortest day. It is the time when the cold grip of Winter is broken and the new year dawns – a time of rebirth and new beginnings. As such, it has held a special significance since before recorded history.
Come join us for this special journey circle! Bring a candle if you like, or something symbolic of the time for you to place on the altar. Consider also your intention or vision for the coming year, which you may share or that might be the focus of your journey.
This Circle is for anyone interested in shamanic practice. Shamanism is not a religion or a dogma. It is not dependent on any particular organizational structure or belief system, but is a practical world view based on ancient understanding of the relationships between humans and nature or Spirit. The shamanic perspective on life and living is extremely relevant to the challenges and concerns of our modern world and ordinary life experiences, and is compatible with all religious and spiritual beliefs.
What to bring with you?
In addition to curiosity and willingness to explore something new, bring a journal or notebook with you to record your journey and insights that you receive. Wear comfortable clothes for floor seating on pillows and yoga blankets. If you have a hand drum, feel free to bring it, but it is not necessary. You might also bring a bandanna or blindfold to cover your eyes.
