In spite of darkness, there is always light…
Forty-three years ago, on Feb 7, 1977, I had an intense, enlightening and life-changing near-death experience (NDE) which I wrote about in my book, A Second in Eternity.
During my voyage to God/Infinite Mind/Infinite Love, I saw many of the challenges and changes we now see and that will come in future decades. But I also saw these as necessary to bring mankind together for a truly enlightening era of human existence. We will get past this difficult era, and we will all “see the light” as never before, make amazing discoveries, colonize our Solar System and enjoy God’s creation.
So if these intense times start to take their toll on you, allow yourself to see there is more going on than we often realize and that true peace and happiness always begins within.
Yes, whether we like it or not, life guarantees intense changes and challenges that forever alter the course of humanity. Spanning the spectrum from wars and natural catastrophes to great discoveries and liberating social movements, these “curve balls” can be devastating or enlightening, and can often be both. COVID-19 is just our latest.
It is also true that if we never faced problems, individually or collectively, we would certainly never grow, discover new solutions or evolve, physically, mentally and/or spiritually. The hysteria, frustration, and fear COVID-19 has exposed are indeed understandable, but if we did not see the shortcomings and failures in our systems and in ourselves, we could never improve in either arena.
The Butterfly Effect proposes tiny changes in complex systems that can cause huge effects. Hopefully, COVID-19 can bring about higher personal and collective consciousness that underscores our common humanity and true interdependence. Hopefully, all leaders and politicians will finally work for everyone rather than just the rich and powerful who have access to them. Life is indeed pushing us to re-prioritize – personally and collectively – to implement social and economic fairness, to expand health care, and advance policies that reflect concern for all and our environment.
We cannot change the past, but since we’ve already experienced it, we might as well benefit from it and let it enlighten us. Likewise, we can affect and influence other people, but we cannot change them. Still, the most powerful use of free will is always in how we see and interpret matters. Regardless of the situation, what we feel and experience is always directly related to our perspective, intentions, and attitudes. We alone as individuals have the power to change those aspects of ourselves. And no one or no situation can take that power away from us.
Listen to what life is saying and trying to teach us. Recognize what you can change and put your energy into those aspects of life. Then choose and practice patience, learning, and inspiration rather than surrendering to fear, frustration and/or helplessness. It always helps, especially in these trying times.
