Astrological Society of Austin Presents: Workshop “Sacred Geometry in Astrology” with Naomi Bennett – Saturday, June 18th, 2011
Astrology was the mother of all sciences in the ancient world. In our continuation of an exploration into the heart of Sacred Geometry, in this workshop we will examine the geometric world of astrology as the dynamic philosophical expression and logical extension of the structure of mathematical connections between proportion and angles woven throughout the natural universe.
We will explore the few remnants of the Egyptian Hellenistic period for our clues of what was known and implied in their geometric images. This is the birthing room for the foundation of modern astrology. This incredibly creative time period left us clues in the form of images rather than formulas or clear writings. These symbols are the alchemist’s gold; in pure form, unaltered by politics and revisionist history. We are challenged to look through the veil of time, leaving behind the bias ingrained in our modern eyes, to rediscover the ancient perspective, based on sacred geometric design, that gave birth to our foundational tools of signs, rulerships and houses.
Much of this perspective was re-discovered by Carl Payne Tobey (1902-1980). He was a mathematician at heart and a major player in American astrology from 1925 until 1975. Most of his works are out of print. Since becoming his student in 1989, Naomi commenced a lifelong search to verify Tobey’s re-discoveries, extending that knowledge with travel and investigations to confirm his claims.
Our goal, Naomi explains, is to develop new eyes for this most ancient of sciences, to see the foundations of divination in geometry, and to re-examine our foundation of how western astrology was constructed. Our forefathers knew more than we have known enough to give them credit for. With a deeper understanding of our astrological roots, the messages left for us so long ago can speak with truth and wisdom that can penetrate the centuries.
Sacred Geometry in Astrology with Naomi Bennett will be offered Saturday, June 18th from 10:00 am until 4:30 pm at a private residence in southwest Austin. Lunch, handouts, coffee and snacks will be provided. This Part 2 presentation in the series is a complete unit; although helpful, attendance at Part 1 is not a requirement. Naomi Bennett has practiced astrology since 1970. She was mentored by Carl Payne Tobey (1902-1980) and has a BS in Psychology. She teaches astrology as a branch of Sacred Geometry, advising clients in person or long distance, using equal houses, transits, heliocentric nodes and Arabic parts. This workshop includes four lecture hours. Check-in starting at 10:00 a.m. with the first lecture starting at 10:30. Ample time is provided for breaks and lunch with the workshop concluding at 4:30 p.m. This workshop in a beautiful private setting will include a catered lunch, organic coffees and teas and snacks for all participants. There will be ample time for questions and discussions and mingling with other astrologers.

THE ASTROLOGICAL SOCIETY OF AUSTIN (ASA) is a nonprofit membership organization established in 2006 dedicated to mentoring the study of astrology in Central Texas. The ASA hosts monthly lectures, quarterly educational workshops, retreats and social events. We are a group of astrologers, astrology students and curious persons with a common interest in astrology, the ancient wisdom science. Some of us are mentors; some of us are neophytes; all are welcome and part of the synergy. Collectively we share a passion for learning about astrology and the endlessly fascinating exploration of the many areas to which this ancient study yields insight.
Often a more solitary pursuit, our group energy provides an opportunity for reflective contemplation, an appreciation for the magnificent symphony of our universe and the codes beautifully designed within it, the sharing and development of ideas and the real possibility that we can contribute value to the world, both personally and professionally.
