Basic Watsu® Class is a 16 hour introduction to watsu® (water shiatsu) done in a warm shallow pool. There are 6 hours of interactive land instruction and discussion, and 10 hours in the warm pool. Students enjoy giving and receiving equally. Learning the heart breath connection, you can stay grounded in your stance while you float and stretch someone to the rhythm of your connected breath.

Basic Watsu® Class is a two day class (16 hours ) of introduction to and practice giving and recieving Watsu®. Watsu® is water shiatsu, a type of body work or massage done in a warm shallow pool. Using the principles of Zen Shiatsu, working with the meridian systems, there is a heart meridian, a lung meridian, and so forth... these lines of energy are compressed, stretched, points held, to bring about harmony within the body.
Add to this, the heart breath connection, watsu's flow, interweaving dynamic movement and suspension. The receiver is gently floated, rocked, expanded, cradled, twisted, stretched, folded, and swirled. Supported in warmth and safety, the muscles and fascia are free to give up their long held patterns of holding, tension, and pain. The mind is now free to quiet itself and receive. Watsu's physical and stress reducing effects are deep, long lasting, and profound.
When a person first enters the pool, the most often response is a deep sigh...of release, just because warm water feels good, and is automatically relaxing. Add to that, the fact that there is a weightless quality when being floated, every tendon, joint, ligament is free to move and articulate in ways impossible on land or on a table...there is no gravity or need to hold or support the body in any way.
January 15th and 16th, 2011
Basic Watsu® Class is a 16 hour introduction to Watsu® (water shiatsu) a type of massage/bodywork done in a warm shallow pool. Texas massage therapist may get 16 hours of CEU's. Learning the heart, breath connection, like in Tai Chi, you can stay grounded in your stance while you float and stretch someone to the rhythm of your connected breath.
You will be led through a simple but complete form. During a session it is not unusual to reach a non ordinary state, similar to meditation, or some receivers feel they drift in and out of sleep or conscious awareness. You can take this course to deepen your meditation, your relationship to water, your connection to others. There will be no pressure to "learn the form", but those who choose to can follow this with the Transition Flow that expands this Basic Flow to complete a Watsu® 1 class. As in each stage of a Watsu® program, the form learned has its own organic unity and can be repeated over and over without loosing its freshness or benefits for both giver and receiver.
